I am a second-year PhD student in Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, working on deep learning methods more directly inspired by neurobiology and neuropsychology.
Currently, I am applying such techniques (mostly in the form of unsupervised generative modelling and implicit manifold learning) to the improvement of efficiency, effectiveness, and adversarial robustness of neural image classifiers.
Other research interests of mine broadly include science and theory of deep neural networks, trustworthy artificial intelligence without explicit specifications, kernel methods in deep learning, and computational neuroscience.
I am supervised by Prof. Luca Bortolussi and collaborate with Prof. Fabio Anselmi and Dott. Alessio Ansuini (AREA Science Park).
Before that, I earned a M.Sc. in Data Science and Scientific Computing and a B.Sc. in Physics, both from the University of Trieste.
In my spare time, you can find me wielding a tennis racket, listening to music, or open-sourcing useless stuff (the first and the last usually not together 🙃).
